Shanghai to Okinawa,Japan

Wed, Nov 7
Most mornings I had been getting up at 5:00 am and going to the gym to try and work off all the food I had been eating, but during the night and morning the ship rocked so much I felt a little queasy but not seasick so I decided to sleep in. All day the sea was rough. It seems the further we go south the more turbulent the water is.

Thurs Nov 8
We docked at the city of Naha on the island of Okinawa which was near the site of the famous WW II battle "Iwo Jima". Last night I watched Clint Eastwood's movie "Letters from Iwo Jima" I give two thumbs up. It was one of the better war movies I've seen.

The weather was warm and humid unlike China where it was windy and chilly.

Our tour guide took us to "Makishi Public Market". It was like an Okinawian Walmart. Anything you could possibly need was there for purchase.

Oh Kermie !!

Look at this cutie pie.
In my former life I was a porcupine.

What are you looking at ?

After leaving the market we walked down "Kokusai Street"

Harlem in Japan.

Hip Hop culture in Japan as my Aunt Doris looks on in disgust.

Later we visited Shurijo Castle which was Japans seat of power during the 500 year reign of the Ryukyuan Kingdom. It was destroyed during WW II and rebuilt in 1992.

Can you find the butterfly in this picture?
